A YOUNG girl will be singing in Barrow town centre in aid of a charity which cared for her nana.

Grace Shimmin is taking her speaker, microphone and St Mary's Hospice bucket to Portland Walk in Barrow today (July 13) to sing and raise funds for the charity.

The Dane Ghyll Community School and Nursery pupil has prepared her own set which includes eight songs ranging from artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse and Lewis Capaldi.

Since then they have started doing fundraisers as the hospice always helped their family.

Rachel said: "As a family, we try to do a bit of fundraising for the hospice. We lost my mother-in-law to cancer and they have been really good. Her grandad has done fundraising for the hospice and he helps out at events so Grace just said she wanted to do it.

"She set herself a target of 10 pounds and she has been practising the songs. It is a nice idea. She is going to take it up on Sunday and give it to the hospice.

"She has been in shows where she has sung before and she got really nervous so she said it will help with her confidence building. I think it is such a nice thing to do. She is braver than me."

It added: "A beautiful little girl with a lovely voice. Make sure you are in Portland Walk tomorrow to listen to Grace."

Grace Shimmin will be performing from 11am to 1.15pm.
