A service station in Cumbria has been named the very best in the UK for dogs.

More people than ever are planning to travel with their dog this summer and searches for ‘driving with dogs’ have soared 200% in the last 12 months.

Since the pandemic, millions of Brits decided to venture on holiday in the UK rather than jetting abroad, and this trend seems to have continued.

Cumbria and the Lake District is arguably the most popular holiday spot for those looking to stay on our shores, and we really can't blame them.

Now, motor experts at Nationwide Vehicle Contracts have revealed the best and worst service stations across the UK for dogs, to keep animals happy and safe when travelling this summer.

Keith Hawes at Nationwide Vehicle Contracts says: "It’s very important to take regular breaks when travelling with your dog this summer, but sometimes it’s hard to know where is best to stop.

"Is there green space? Can I walk them? Are they allowed inside? So before you head out this summer with your dog, use this guide to help plan your journey for regular breaks."

The service stations are ranked in an index, based on Google reviews, green spaces, dog-friendly hotels, walking routes available and accessibility to inside areas.

Tebay Services is located on  between J38 and J39 on both the north and southbound sides of the M6.
