A LAKE District café has been praised in a new food hygiene inspection.
Bellis Café & Bistro at Central Buildings at Market Cross in Ambleside was given a score of four after five after assessment.
Inspectors from Westmorland and Furness rated the business on June 4, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
This means that Bellis has a 'Good' food hygiene rating.
Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage was found to be in a 'Very Good' standard.
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene was found to be in a 'Generally Satisfactory' standard.
Food safety management was found to be in a 'Generally Satisfactory' standard.
In Westmorland and Furness, 669 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 561 (84%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
