A school in Barrow has thanked the local community following its latest fundraising success.

Greengate Junior School held its annual Summer Fair last week on Friday, July 5, with people using the occasion to donate money that will go back into supporting and improving the school.

The day involved a range of stalls and games, face painting activities, a raffle, and a chance to throw sponges at teachers - without any fear of earning a detention.

The school announced on Tuesday that, following the fair, they managed to bring in £715.

A spokesperson from Greengate said: "Many thanks for all of the support we received at our Summer Fair last week.

"We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did."

Last month, the school used the Dave Day celebrations in Barrow to support the fair, with pupils dressing up in his honour at the cost of a donation for the tombola.
