Veterans living in and around Barrow have been invited to take part in a free event in Windermere.

'Veterans Day' will take place on Saturday, July 27 between 10am and 4pm, offering former members of the Armed Forces the chance to explore what the region has to offer.

This will include rowing on Windermere, braving a zip wire, trying your hand at a rope course, firing arrows, and plenty more.

The day is a funded programme designed solely to support local veterans, allowing them to enjoy a return to civilian life, as well as meeting people who have faced similar experiences.

People will meet up at the YMCA Lakeside Outdoor Centre at Newby Bridge, with lunch also provided on the day.

Those looking to sign up for the free activities can register their interest by visiting the website here.
