This summer, Barrow is poised to be a top destination for families with an array of free mini-festivals, courtesy of BarrowFull.

On offer at the Playcation events are activities from urban street dance and film animation workshops to VR experiences, and there will even a bike repair station.

Barrow band The Native Cult along with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will deliver special performances on select days for 'Lunchtime Lives', a sequence of half-hour mini-gigs for all to enjoy.

Commencing on July 30 at Vickerstown Park and culminating at Barrow Park on August 10, these events will also stop off at Cavendish Park on August 1, the Dock Museum on August 3, Ormsgill Community Centre on August 6, and at Abbots Vale Park on August 8.

Playcations producer, Natalie Bowers, said: "This year's Playcations' events promise another round of arts opportunities for all ages including a new line of sessions for older kids and teens to try their hand at graffiti art; urban street dance and zine making amongst other activities in BarrowFull's jam-packed programme, which is still absolutely free.

"So come and join us at one (or all!) of the dates taking place near you."

Families with younger children can enjoy a plethora of activities, including library and storytime hubs at all Playcation venues.

Barrow residents have been enjoying Playcations since 2021.
