A MOUNTAIN Rescue Team have had a busy couple of weeks responding to incidents in the Lake District.
Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were called to a swimmer at Buckstones Jump who had slipped on the rocks and dislocated their shoulder at 17:20 on June 24.
Upon their arrival, North West Air Ambulance (NWAAS) were already on scene. A MRT doctor assisted the paramedics, and the casualty was safely evacuated via helicopter.
Earlier that morning, Swift Water Rescue Technicians were woken at 00:30 am to respond to three people who were stuck having capsized their kayak, but the team was stood down at short notice after other agencies managed to recover the casualties.
The following day Langdale Ambleside MRT were called to a female walker on the Coffin Route near Rydal at 12:30 pm after she’d taken a tumble and suffered a dislocated fracture to her ankle.
Thankfully, the team medics were able to reduce the fracture on scene and transport the casualty to the waiting ambulance.
Just an hour later, the team were then paged to help someone who had been scrambling on Lingmoor Fell near Side Pike with their partner.
Whilst the jets performed an air display overhead, the team treated the woman for a possibly torn hamstring.
On June 29, members of the MRT were called to a walker at Wray Gill above Grasmere, who had slipped and injured her ankle.
The team gave pain relief, splinted the injured limb and packaged the casualty on the stretcher.
They were helped by Kendal MRT for the final section of the tricky descent. crossing Wray Gill.
