Barrow man assaulted newly qualified female police officer - sentence

A DRUNKEN man tried to exert his power and authority by assaulting an inexperienced policewoman who was working on only her second-ever solo shift as an officer, a court heard.

Shaun Davis, of Paradise Street in Barrow, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Motorist admits driving offence after incident on Barrow's Park Road

A MOTORIST who seriously injured a man in a collision has appeared in court charged with careless driving.

Konrad Patro admitted causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving after an incident on Park Road in Barrow last week.

Three Barrow Morrisons employees facing fraud and theft charges           

THREE Morrisons employees are due to appear in court after they were charged with fraud and theft.

The trio are to face magistrates after alleged offences in Barrow.

Barrow dad caught growing cannabis plants for medicinal use – sentence

AN UNEMPLOYED father of one grew cannabis for his own medicinal use after sustaining a serious injury, a court heard.

Nathan Dacre was caught producing four cannabis plants inside a grow tent in one of the upstairs bedrooms at his home address on Laburnum Street in Barrow on July 29 last year, South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard.

HMP Haverigg prisoner Colin Cambray died in Furness General Hospital

A CORONER has concluded a serving prisoner died of natural causes after being admitted to Furness General Hospital due to suddenly falling ill in his cell.

Colin Cambray, 55, from Bolton, died in hospital in Barrow on January 19, 2024, 17 days after suffering a collapsed lung and cardiac arrest in his cell at HMP Haverigg, an inquest heard.

Peter Davies, of Dalton, jailed for online child sex offences

A MAN has been jailed for attempting to engage with who be believed to be a 14-year-old child in sexual communication.

Peter Davies, aged 46, from Dalton-in-Furness, was sentenced yesterday (July 4) at Preston Crown Court for attempting to cause / incite a child to engage in sexual communication and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Barrow man jailed for harassing woman on social media

A MAN has been jailed for breaching the terms of a long-running restraining order against a female complainant.

William Connolly, of Anchor Road in Barrow, admitted he had harassed the woman by contacting her via social media without reasonable excuse on May 10 this year.

Man sentenced for assaulting two policeman whilst drunk in Barrow

A MAN has been fined and ordered to pay compensation after assaulting two police officers and another male.

Jonathan Haycock pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to assaulting PC Scott by beating him on May 22 this year in Barrow.

Barrow man charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on male

A MAN is to appear in court charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm to another male.

Philip Everett, of Lyndale Avenue, is said to have committed the offence on February 19 this year in Barrow.

Grange-over-Sands man sentenced for racially aggravated offence

A MAN has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a racially aggravated offence.

Gareth Porter, of Somme Avenue in Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, was due to face a trial foe racially / religiously aggravated common / assault / beating but conceding his wrongdoing on the day of trial.
