MANAGERS at a hotel in South Cumbria are celebrating after winning a prestigious local award celebrating the best of the region’s hospitality and tourism industry.

The Queens Head in the Troutbeck Valley was hailed as the winner of the ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ category at the 2024 Cumbria Tourism Awards on July 2.

The Inn, widely known for its traditional charm and modern comforts, fought off strong competition from the Crooklands Hotel in Milnthorpe and The Yan at Broadrayne in Grasmere in order to claim first prize.

The pub has also recently been recently recognised as a finalist in the Cumbria Tourism Pub of the Year category.

Samantha Robinson, General Manager at The Queens Head for over seven years, expressed her delight at receiving the award.

She said: “We are absolutely thrilled. This recognition is a reflection of the hard work and passion of our entire team, who strive every day to provide our guests with a fantastic experience.

“To win this award not only means we are recognised for our hard work and commitment to the industry, but recognised amongst some of the best places Cumbria has to offer.

The historic pub is owned by Robinsons Brewery and has ten meticulously designed bedrooms having been refurbished in 2023.
