A MAN has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a racially aggravated offence.
Gareth Porter, of Somme Avenue in Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, was due to face a trial foe racially / religiously aggravated common / assault / beating but conceding his wrongdoing on the day of trial.
At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on July 4, the 39-year-old was sentenced to a 12-month community order with one requirement of completing 125 hours of unpaid work.
Magistrates said they had uplifted the number of hours from 100 to 125 hours to reflect the racial aggravation.
He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.
