A MAN has been fined and ordered to pay compensation after assaulting two police officers and another male.

Jonathan Haycock pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to assaulting PC Scott by beating him on May 22 this year in Barrow.

The 42-year-old, of Aberdare Street, Barrow, also admitted another charge of assault by beating of an emergency worker, this time against PC Sandham on May 25, who were both at the time of the offence, acting in the exercise of their functions as policemen.

Haycock finally confessed to the common assault of another male contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 in Barrow on May 25.

At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on July 3, magistrates sentenced the defendant to a 12-month community order with a requirement of completing a 90-day alcohol abstinence and monitoring course, as well as 15 RAR days.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation to each victim.

No orders for court costs were made.
