The Mail has started its campaign to find the best pub in south Cumbria.
Nominations are now open for the inaugural 'Best Pub 2024' award, building upon from the success of other recent campaigns.
Having discovered the best chippy in the region, and with voting underway to unearth the best local hairdresser, The Mail is now turning its attention to the quintessential British staple that is the pub.

Whilst we at The Mail can get the ball rolling, we are now relying on our readers to introduce us to their favourite haunts and to bring them into the limelight.
Do you have a favourite place to meet up with friends after a long day of work? Do you know somewhere that manages to pull the perfect pint every single time?
You can cast your nomination for what you believe is the best pub across the Furness peninsula by visiting the online platform.
The nomination process will take place between Monday, July 8 and Sunday, July 14th.
The Mail will then exclusively reveal the ten finalists based on these results on the week commencing Monday, July 15th.
Following that, it will once again be down to our readers to show their support for the campaign, with voting happening from Monday, July 22 up until Sunday, August 3.
Joy Yates, Newsquest Cumbria regional editor, said: “Pubs and bars are an important part of our society - they are so many things to so many people.
"It’s where we go to meet friends and family, enjoy quiz nights, and experience great food.
"We all have our locals and go-to haunts. It could be because they are steeped in history or are new to the bar scene.

"Now you have the chance to nominate your favourite and give the team the recognition they deserve.”
Once the ten finalists are revealed, The Mail will be running special features with each one to uncover the history behind the businesses and what sets them apart as they look to win your vote.
Readers will be able to vote by picking up print copies of The Mail between July 22 and August 3.
