It's that time of year when local businesses and racing enthusiasts begin to register their teams for Barrow town centre's soapbox derby.
There are around six weeks to go and applications are still being accepted for the event on August 19 which will see teams race to set the fastest lap time down the obstacle-filled track.
Sponsored by BAE Systems, Ørsted and Barrow Town Council, the event will start around 10am with soapbox kart no.1 setting off down the course using only gravity to set the first time of the day.

This time will then set the benchmark for teams to beat with the array of hand-built Soapbox racers speeding down Dalton Road.
Paul Hodgson, Project Manager for Barrow Business Improvement District, added: "We have had a really great response to this year's Soapbox with 17 teams registered so far."
Winners from last year Coastline Brewery will be taking part again along with the Wet Room, who placed second, and Love Barrow Families, who placed third.
Both the Wet Room and Love Barrow Families are reported to be quite far along with their karts.
Here is the list of teams taking part so far:
Concept2Engineering
MG Carpets
NW Total
South End Caravan Park
Coastline Brewery
Furness Building Society
The Wet Room
Emma Sims
Oxley Group

Last year, just over 30,000 people lined the streets along most of Barrow's high street around the 340m course with similar numbers anticipated this year.
This year's route will also finish near the Townhouse at the bottom of Dalton Road with the top area of Dalton Road behind the launch ramp transformed into the pit area.
Here the public can view and interact with the teams and their karts during the day.
They will also be able to see all the action on the large-screen TV, located at the top of Portland Walk.
This includes the karts navigating obstacles on the track in real time - including the phenomenal GrimeFighters splash zone which is set to return this year.
