PLANS have been lodged to convert office space in Barrow into a residential property.

High Speed Motor Boats (Windermere) Ltd has submitted an application to Westmorland and Furness Council to determine if prior approval is required to convert ground floor office space at 98-100 Duke Street into a ‘self-contained’ loft-style residential flat.

The proposed flat will consist of two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living/dining area as well as a hall on entrance, planning documents show.

According to the plans submitted the total floor area of the flat will be 87.3 square metres and will have four windows that look onto Duke Street as well as one that looks onto the rear yard.

An application form submitted by the applicant says no parking is available at the site but there is on street and public parking available in the ‘immediate vicinity’.

This application is currently undergoing public consultation.
