The widow of Hairy Biker Dave Myers said the Dave Day event in Barrow was 'so beautiful' that she wishes to do more future tribute events.

Lili Myers told BBC Radio Cumbria she wanted to 'keep the legacy going' after thousands of bikers came to the TV chef's hometown to honour his life.

After Dave lost his battle with cancer in February, friends, family and fans thought of ways to pay tribute to the Hairy Biker which Mrs Myers emphasised as 'so successful'.

Now, she said organisers may put it to the fans again by running a poll on the Dave Day Facebook page to see how they want to celebrate her husband's life in the future.

Mrs Myers said: "I think the event [Dave Day] was so successful and so beautiful, it would be such a pity not to do something in the future to keep the legacy going.

"We would ask whether that would be a festival, a festival with food or a bike ride."

Speaking to BBC Breakfast on Monday (June 10) in the aftermath of the big occasion, he said: "Wouldn't that be wonderful [if it happened every year]?

"I think I may have to ask Woody (Jason Woodcock) in a week's time and Lil (Liliana Myers) because Lil and Woody were really instrumental in making this happen and it was a remarkable, remarkable achievement."

Outside Barrow town hall, the pair gave emotional speeches which were also humorous in the spirit of Dave.

Lili also expressed to the radio show that she wanted to donate some of Dave's cookbooks to a college or cookery school.

Speaking on social media, she added: "I must tell you, most of them have his fingerprints on with ingredients, you know, he was cooking and never took care.

"I was always [saying], 'oh wipe your fingers before you do that'."
