Emergency services in Cumbria are set to engage with communities at special open events in July.
Barrow Fire Station opens its doors on Saturday, July 13 from 10am to 4pm, offering the public a glimpse into firefighting life, with a road traffic collision demonstration, safety advice and an insight into recruitment opportunities.
Participating at the Barrow event are partner organisations Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team, HM Coastguard, Blood Bikes Cumbria, Mind and Andy’s Man Club.
Visitors can look forward to a craft fair, face-painting, family attractions, a raffle and refreshments, all in aid of The Firefighters Charity.
The following day, Busher Walk, Kendal, hosts an Emergency Services Day from 11am to 4pm, featuring multiple emergency response teams.
The line-up includes Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria Police, North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Beep Doctors, Bay Search and Rescue, Kendal Mountain Rescue Team and North West Air Ambulance.
The first hour will provide a calmer atmosphere for visitors preferring a less crowded setting.
A road closure is in place however rear parking remains accessible.
Meanwhile, Seascale Fire Station too is joining the charity efforts on Saturday, July 13 from 10am to 1pm, hosting a car wash with proceeds also benefiting The Firefighters Charity.
