A BARBER in Barrow said he was 'thankful' to reach the final ten in a competition set up by The Mail to find the best hairdresser in the region.

The Local, on Allison Street, was established in 2020.

"I was really pleased, just thankful that people had taken time to do it. We hadn't really spoken about it much in the salon," worker Daniel Culley said.

"I think that I am quite proud that that we work in a laid back environment. We all get on so well. It's a really nice relaxing environment to be in, it translates well."

The Local does men's and women's hair. Daniel cuts men's hair and he said the most popular style they do currently is mullets.

"They're really popular at the moment. It's nice that people are branching out and trying new things," he said.

When asked what sets them apart from other barbers and hair salons, he said: "For me it's all about the atmosphere. I just feel at home here."
