A woman was taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Barrow.

The incident happened just after 3.30pm on Wednesday when two cars collided off Roose Road.

One woman managed to exit one of the crashed vehicles before a neighbour transported her to hospital, said a spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue.

North West Ambulance are not believed to have attended. A police cordon was put up around the scene.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue said: "At 3:36pm on Wednesday, June 26, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision on Roose Road, Barrow.

"One female casualty had been able to exit her car prior to the service’s arrival and was transported to hospital by a neighbour.

"Firefighters assisted with making the scene safe and the incident was closed at 5:18pm."

A spokesperson for Cumbria police said: "We were contacted at 15:38 to a report of a two vehicle RTC. Both vehicles were recovered by 17:40."
