Cumbria is being given a rare sighting of the sun this week with temperatures soaring.

Whilst the county is not experiencing the same sweltering conditions as seen in the southeast, locals will still be turning on fans and applying copious amounts of sunscreen.

The conditions prompted a yellow weather warning for heat to be issued by the UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office.

Highs across Cumbria will largely be seen on Wednesday (June 26) before temperatures gradually cool by the time Thursday comes along.

Residents in Kendal are set to be the luckiest in the county with a high of 25 degrees set to be seen on Wednesday.

Having experienced 20 degrees today (June 25), Barrow locals will still be greeted by temperatures of 23 degrees by the middle of the week.

Whilst conditions will cool to 18 and 16 degrees on Thursday and Friday respectively in Carlisle, a balmy 24 degrees will have people sweating towards the north of Cumbria.

Whitehaven, on the other hand, has not been as fortunate, though will still see a high of 21 degrees on Wednesday.
