A HAIR stylist has thanked her clients for helping her business make it to the finals of The Mail's Best Hairdresser or Barber 2024 competition.

On Monday (June 10) we launched the award with readers nominating their favourite to make the coveted shortlist.

Boss Hair and Beauty Studio on 90 Duke Street in Barrow has been selected as one of the top ten finalists by the readers.

The business is owned by Claire Needham who took over the salon just before Covid.

Claire, who has been a hairstylist for 20 years, said she was 'very' thankful for all the people who voted for her business.

She said: "It is really kind that our clients think that - good luck to everyone else. We work really hard I have got a really great team.

"We are really lucky to have really nice clients."

When asked about why she thinks she should win the competition, Claire said: "They [competitors] have all got a fair chance of winning. We do lots of training to keep our skills up and we do beauty as well.

"We have loads of regular clients. We want to be carbon-neutral in a couple of years."

Readers will now be able to vote for their favourite finalist by picking up a copy of the newspaper until Saturday, July 6.

After this final voting stage has concluded, the winner will be crowned as The Mail's 'Hairdresser or Barber 2024' during the week commencing Monday, July 15.

Boss Hair and Beauty is the third of the ten shortlisted establishments we will be featuring over the coming issues to show our readers what they have to offer.

Tom Murphy, head of digital at Newsquest Cumbria, said: "Remember to pick up a copy of The Mail to give your favourite a chance to win."

Keep an eye out for the special editions of The Mail in the coming weeks - and don't forget to vote.
