THE new managers of a coast-side café said the feedback has been 'really positive' since they have taken over the business.

Amy Mcarthur, 36, from Barrow, and her partner are the new owners of Bosun's Locker on Roa Island.

In October the former managers of the establishment said they would not renew the lease when it expired on March 31.

When the tenancy came up to the café, Amy said she 'could not miss the opportunity' to get it.

Working in customer service has been part of her life as eight years ago she and her family set up a pie shop in Dalton where she worked until taking over Bosun's Locker.

"Baking and bakery are in our blood," she said.

"It has gone really well. The menu is nearly finished and it will be ready by the end of the week. It is still good quality food and the ice cream parlour is still open."

"We are thinking about doing a bike night. We are into bikes ourselves," she said.

Bosuns Locker opened officially on Dave Day (June 8). Amy said it was the 'right day' for it.

"It was a steady start for us. I was so keen to try something out as we have been waiting for so long," she said.

"It has been so positive. We have had really great feedback about the food.

"I do miss the pie shop. There are so many elements to look after but I enjoy it so much."

Amy said her friends and family worked hard to get the café ready to open.

"We had fantastic support from family and friends," she said.

"I would not have been able to do what I am doing now without the support of my family."
