The first performers have been announced for an upcoming Pride festival in south Cumbria.

Ulverston will be hosting its first ever version of the event on Saturday, July 20 to celebrate local members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The festivities will take place between 10am and 5pm, serving as a day of entertainment and education across the market town.

The organisers have revealed that Matthew Cooper, David Clancy and Lady Magenta Grey were the initial confirmed names to be appearing, with more to be announced in the near future.

The team said: "Most of our acts this year are from the community in Ulverston.

"We are celebrating the pride community in Ulverston and showing off their talents."

The festival will feature talks on the history of Pride as well as life stories from people who will share their experiences of growing up queer in the local area.
