A yellow warning for heat is in place across all of Cumbria this week, and a health alert has been made by the government.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) put a yellow warning in place for most of England, and it will remain in place until Thursday, June 27 at 5pm.

A yellow warning means there’s a potential risk to particularly vulnerable people, and the UKHSA said minor impacts are probably across the health and social care sector.

Nationally, some of the highest temperatures this year are expected to come around, as warm air surges north.

Across England, there is an expected long-lasting heat, with temperatures rising to roughly 29 degrees in the southeast.

But in Cumbria, temperatures are relatively mild, according to the Met Office.

Across much of Cumbria today, it will be sunny throughout, with temperatures coasting around 20 to 23 degrees throughout, and minimal chances of rain.

This is similar to the next few days, which the Met Office forecasts as slightly more cloudy, but similarly warm.

Temperatures in Cumbria won’t go higher than around 22 to 24 degrees, according to the Met Office, with coastal areas south and west like Barrow and Workington milder than areas further inland like Kendal, Keswick, and Carlisle.
