A BEAUTY manager is looking forward to becoming her own boss and spending more time with her son after working for a health centre in Barrow for the past eight and a half years.

Lauren Day will begin her own treatments from June 26 at Fab Gym & Fitness after they complete their takeover of Nuffield Health’s Fitness and Wellbeing Gym at Hollywood Park on Hindpool Road.

Her new business, aptly named ‘Lauren’s Beauty’, will offer a range of services for both men and women including massages, waxing and eye treatments at affordable prices.

She will also offer a variety of different nail treatments, as well as a facial and spray tan service for her customers.

“I’ve thought about it for some time, and I’ve decided to take the plunge,” Lauren said. "I think the time is right now.

“Nothing will really change because I’ve already got my own clientele. I’ll still be in the same building working the same hours but I’ll just be working for myself instead of for a company.

“The hours for me will be a lot better and it means I can be more flexible with childcare arrangements.

"I recently returned to work from maternity leave. I can’t wait to be able to spend more time with my son. I’m nervous but I’m excited to get started.

“In the future, I want to offer more treatments for my clients such as bamboo massages but I’m looking to just getting settled in first. It would also be good to possibly hire some staff of my own.”
