DRIVERS are queueing up to an hour because of roadworks near a busy south Cumbrian roundabout.

Starting today (June 18), there are Electricity North West works on the A590 from the A592 roundabout to the start of the dual carriageway at Fiddler Hall. Multi-way traffic signals have been put in place. This work will continue until June 20.

Electricity North West is also currently conducting works between the A590 at Newby Bridge to the C5024 via Lakeside. The work started yesterday (June 17) and is anticipated to continue until the end of Friday, June 21.

Both activity types have been listed as 'new service connection.'

On social media, drivers have reported waiting over an hour at Backbarrow, and that the traffic has backed up to past Haverthwaite.

One said that it took them over an hour to get from Dalton to Newby Bridge.
