A renowned grade II-listed landmark in the Lake District has been named one of the 5 best British countryside hotels.
Across the UK, you can find delectable fare, soothing spas, cosy fireplaces and thoughtful personal touches – proving that you don’t need to travel far to get away from it all.
But of course, nowhere quite competes with the Lake District's many, many offerings.
Now, one in particular has been highlighted.

Langdale Chase
Bazaar's review reads: "If you stay in room 15, a perfect, dual-aspect suite of generous proportions, you wake up to a view of Lake Windermere, so glassy and still that it’s impossible to tell where the horizon is. Langdale Chase affords many of these opportunities.
"After extensive renovations, this Victorian country house, built from dark Brathay stone, retains its impressive grandeur, but has a homely feel inside.
"The modern British cooking at the restaurant, overseen by the chef Michael Coles, is excellent, and there are nice touches in the bedrooms – cookies and gold-flecked chocolate-dipped madeleines were waiting for us when we went in.
"A fantastic new addition to the south Lakes."

Langdale Chase
Langdale Chase Hotel is a grand Victorian country house situated alongside Lake Windermere at Ecclerigg, about 2 miles from Ambleside.
Nestled in 6 acres of gardens with panoramic views across the lake, this hotel has a prestigious 4-Star rating and AA 2-Rosette awarded restaurant, offering the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing break. We are a family and dog-friendly hotel.
The property was built as a private lakeside retreat in 1890 and transformed into a hotel in the 1930s.
Now, after a renovation lasting more than a year, Langdale Chase reopened in November last year.
