A COUPLE'S new fruit and vegetable stall is already proving to be a hit with customers.

Fruit and Veg is the new stall at Ulverston Market launched by Megan Lunt and Jackson Simpson on Monday (June 17).

The stall offers a wide selection of products from onions to leeks, white cabbages, apples and strawberries, all sourced from Preston.

She said: "We knew from local customers how much they all wanted one and we thought there is nothing better than having a fruit and veg one.

"I have worked in the market since I was 18 in my family's business stalls and neither of us knew what to do so it just made sense. We also needed a fruit and veg stall in here and we thought: 'Why not, let's go for it.'"

For her, talking to locals is what makes the business and their support has been felt on the couple's first day.

"You can always have a good chat with locals," she said.

"A lot of the people live on their own so it is nice to be there for them all and make sure they are all alright - it is just a nice part of the day. "
