Gareth Houghton has been appointed the new general manager of The Windermere Manor Hotel.
As a hospitality professional, Mr Houghton expressed familiarity with the Lake District setting, saying it feels "just like coming home."
Owned by Starboard Hotels, the 35-bed country house stands amidst the UK's notable Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Mr Houghton said: "The moment I stepped through the beautiful timber doors of The Windermere Manor, I knew this was the place for me.
"It is a stunning property, oozing with charm and character befitting its location close to Lake Windermere and the Lakeland village of Bowness."
Starboard Hotels manages an impressive portfolio of 21 facilities worldwide, including recognised brands such as Accor, IHG, Hampton by Hilton, Best Western and Days Inn.
The appointment of Mr Houghton signals a return to the Lake District, where he began his hospitality journey over thirty years ago.
He brings familiarity with the region, having previously managed the Sharrow Bay Hotel in Ullswater.
Beyond his local experience, Houghton's hospitality journey has taken him across the country and overseas, including a recent position at Northcote in Lancashire.
His extensive career path has established his reputation and solidified his professional standing in the industry.
He added: "I just love it here.
"It is such a special place to welcome guests to and make their stay with us a special experience.
"And I have to say it is really refreshing to work for such a supportive company as Starboard.
"It is wonderful to be part of such a friendly and welcoming team."
Starboard Hotels Group operations director Kerian Barnes voiced satisfaction with the appointment, saying: "Gareth and The Windermere Manor Hotel are a perfect fit.
"We are delighted to welcome such a seasoned professional to manage our hotel.
"Gareth brings unrivalled experience and a wealth of knowledge that we value highly as a company."
Emphasising the charm of the hotel, Mr Houghton noted: "The Windermere Manor is unique in combining the classic country hotel look and feel with a homely atmosphere.
"It is in an exceptional location, superb for families who can enjoy the indoor heated swimming pool, and we are fully dog friendly, catering for family pets as well as assistance dogs, including guide dogs.
"We are looking forward to a warm summer, offering guests afternoon tea out on the lawn."
