A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place across the North of England today, including Cumbria.

The warning is in place from 11am to 10pm on Saturday June 15.

The Met Office predicts slow moving thunderstorms and heavy showers, that may cause some disruption to travel and outdoor activities.

They have warned residents to expect some short term loss of power and other services as well as public transport delays.

The Met Office said there is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

They also warned that some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, leading to some damage to buildings or structures.

There is probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes to be expected.
