CAMPAIGN group Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) will start its UK tour, which will demand election candidates end sewage pollution, in Windermere.

A demonstration will take place with Matt Staniek outside the United Utilities Information Centre in Windermere between 9 and 10am on Monday, June 17.

Travelling in a bus, the campaigners will host political hustings from Edinburgh to St Agnes, Cornwall.

The campaigners will visit the headquarters of five major water companies and deliver letters demanding change.

Giles Bristow, the chief executive officer of SAS, said: "This election is a pivotal moment in the fight to end sewage pollution and we're determined to grasp it with both hands - and to bring some much-needed fun to the battle-bus bore-fest while we do it."

United Utilities said that it is proposing an investment programme in its infrastructure 'not seen on this scale for a century' totalling £13.7 billion if accepted by regulator OFWAT.
