Westmorland and Furness Council are ‘pleased’ to announce the launch of the Summer Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme.

The programme provides fully funded activities and nourishing meals for young people during the school holidays.

Children who are eligible for Free School Meals can access the programme and book free activities and events.

There are lots of different activities available including sports, music, arts, and learning. Children will be provided with a healthy meal each day they attend. There are also activities to develop understanding about food and nutrition.

Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families, HAF is funded by the Department for Education in response to this.

Evidence shows holiday clubs can have a positive impact on children and work best when they provide physical activities, enriching activities and nutritious food.

Eligible children can join the HAF programme for up to four days at Easter, 16 days in the summer and four days at Christmas. It does not run in half-term holidays.
