A council is urging residents to share their experiences of adult social care at a 'listening event' this month.

Westmorland and Furness Council's event will take place at The Forum Theatre in Barrow on Friday, June 28, from 11am to 2.30pm, with free lunch and refreshments provided.

Cath Whalley, director of Adult Social Care at the council, said: "It’s fantastic to be hosting our first listening event, as it’s the start of a new approach for the council and for Adult Social Care."

She emphasised they would value stories about personal care or experiences of someone known to be in care.

Ms Whalley added: "Whatever your experience, we would really like to hear from you and help us ensure adults are listened to and understood."

Richard Currie, co-production lead with Stockport Council, will be a guest speaker on the day -  talking about how his council has used people's feedback to improve.

Registration for the event can be completed online or by phone at 0300 373 3300.
