Fans of the theatre are encouraged to book their tickets to an ‘intriguing’ new show set to appear at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston next week.

The show is billed as a cross between 1980s period sitcom Blackadder and British television spy drama series Spooks, which was created by the BBC in 2002.

‘I, Spie’ by the Telling Music is an interactive thriller telling the story of Renaissance musician John Dowland foiling an Italian plot on the life of Queen Elizabeth I.

The play, written by award-winner Clare Norburn and BAFTA-nominated director Nicholas Renton, will transport the audience to Elizabethan England.

This 16th Century show takes place on Wednesday June 12 at 7.30pm and will feature courtly masque music performed by a live band.

The Telling Music is known for its innovative and thought-provoking takes on classical culture and have previously performed to a huge crowd at the Coro.

Ulverston was treated to a performance of their show ‘What the Dickens’ last autumn.
