Volunteers in Ambleside are being called upon to create a wildlife snapshot
The National Trust is running a BioBlitz event at Wray Castle, which is to coincide with The Big Help Out.
The event aims to monitor changes in wildlife and track the effectiveness of ongoing work to support nature.
Volunteers will use the iNaturalist app to record photos of wildlife they discover.
No expertise is required as an online community will help identify species.
The BioBlitz event runs from 1pm to 3.30pm on Saturday, June 8.
A National Trust spokesperson said: "This weekend, millions of people are going to be doing extraordinary things in every community in the country and it feels amazing to be a part of that collective effort."
The event is one of hundreds taking place across the country this weekend as part of this year’s ‘Big Help Out’ - a nationwide volunteering opportunity organised by The /Together Initiative.
