You could do a lot of good for a regional charity just by walking your dog later this year.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service is organising 'Whirlybird Walkies', its first ever dog walking challenge to raise money to support its operations.

This August, those interested will be invited to either walk 30, 60 or 90 miles with their canine companions, with every penny donated going straight to the charity.

After raising your first £10, a special bandana will also be sent over that can be worn by your dog, making sure that everyone knows that they are a part of GNAAS' 'Canine Care Team'.

Those taking part can do so at anytime and anywhere, all at once or split over the entire month.

A spokesperson from GNAAS added: "We’re working harder than ever to help people in need across the region when they need us, and Whirlybird Walkies is the new way to help us raise vital funds and keep our helicopters flying."
