A cabin cruiser was stranded without power in Walney Channel over the weekend, forcing a rescue mission by lifeboat crew.
The Barrow RNLI team launched its inshore boat, Raymond and Dorothy Billingham, after receiving a distress call from HM Coastguard at 11.35am on Sunday.
A drifting vessel was spotted half a mile east of Piel Island by the island's Ferry skipper who raised an alarm.
The lifeboat arrived at the scene within minutes - with Saul Tomlin at the helm, and crew Andy Baxter and Mike Armstrong - to find two people aboard the 18ft cruiser.
The cruiser managed to restart its engine and after assessing the situation, the lifeboat crew decided to escort it back to its mooring at Ferry Pitching.
After ensuring the casualty vessel was safe, the crew returned to the boathouse at 1.20pm, readying the lifeboat for the next call-out.
