Thousands of people are coming to Barrow to remember the life of Dave Myers, whose home town is putting on a show to marvel at to honour his legacy.

Speaking about what it means to play just a small role on the day, Jess said: "He [Dave] was a truly inspirational man, so you can understand why so many people want to be involved.

"I'm honoured to have been asked to be a part of the celebrations and hopefully I can use those feelings in the performance."

Jess' singing career began as a child through the occasional lesson, though it did not become her passion until an opening cropped up at university.

"I went to Cambridge to study languages, French and German, but then there was an opportunity to sing in the choir," she said.

"It was really intensive training and was a baptism of fire in that sense, but I fell in love with it all the same."

A stint at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London followed, preceding a career that has taken her all over the world.

Having lived in the capital, Jess moved back to Barrow in September last year, allowing her to get involved with Dave Day.

She might be used to grand performances in the finest of locations, but Saturday is going to represent a spectacle even Jess could not have predicted.

"There's going to be thousands of motorcyclists arriving just as I'm singing, which isn't the sort of experience I'm used to," she said.

"But you never know, there might be loads of bikers on the day who happen to have a love of classical music."

Jess will be performing from 5pm at Barrow Town Hall, with the show starting at 4pm.
