Dozens of properties across Cumbria went under the hammer - here's what happened to the Barrow houses.

Auction House Cumbria held its monthly event on Thursday May 30 at The Halston Hotel on Warwick Road in Carlisle.

Lot two was number Five Highlands Avenue, with a guide price of £125,000.

This extended, three bedroom property offered spacious accommodation and was described as requiring modernisation.

Estate agents said the semi-detached property was a rare opportunity for homeowners looking for a project or for a developer.

 The ground floor comprises of a hall, a sitting room featuring a bay window, a kitchen and a lounge with access to the garden.

The first floor includes three bedrooms, a dressing room and a family bathroom.

The property sold for £168,000, more than £40,000 over the initial guide price.

 

Lot four was number 56 on Harrison Street, a terraced property close to the town centre and BAE Systems.

With a guide price of £40,000, this three bedroom property was described as being in need of modernisation and includes both a forecourt and rear yard.

The ground floor hall leads to two reception rooms, a lounge and dining room as well as a kitchen. There is also a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms.

The property sold for £54,000, over £10,000 more than the initial guide price.

 

Lot number eight was flat 7E on Steamer Street on Barrow Island which appeared at auction with a guide price of £10,000.

This second floor flat comprises of a hall, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom.

It is located in a residential area close to BAE Systems and many amenities. The flat sold for £10,000.

 

Lot 56 was flat number 6F on Steamer Street on Barrow Island which appeared at auction with a guide price of £10,000.

Though in need of refurbishment, the flat is located close to the town centre and BAE Systems, and comprises of a hall, bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The flat sold remained unsold.
