A University of Chester zoology student has enlightened audiences on the challenges faced by sustainability initiatives' and the successes they are enjoying at an annual summit.

Grange-over-Sands resident Lyndon Howson held a session at the 10th Annual Student Sustainability Summit held on May 29.

It centred around the challenges and triumphs of sustainability initiatives, especially those aimed towards hedgehog preservation.

He said: "I'm thrilled to have had the chance to discuss these important issues and to inspire others to take action in their communities hopefully."

The event brought together students, experts, and advocates to discuss and promote sustainable practices.

Mr Howson was honoured with the Mammal Champion Award from the Mammal Society earlier this year, acknowledging his work in hedgehog conservation and advocacy.

This honour, along with a previous Sustainability Award for his work, highlights his dedication to driving positive change in environmental sustainability.

He used the summit to share his experiences and practical strategies that he learnt from involvement in community projects.

His focus was on nurturing biodiversity and rallying support for conservation efforts.

One attendee said: "Lyndon's presentation was inspiring and informative.

"His passion for making environments greener and more hedgehog-friendly truly resonated with everyone, and his track record of success speaks volumes about his dedication."

Participants walked away from the session having learnt strategies for improving sustainability in their communities.

They also learnt about the importance of community involvement and practical ways to encourage biodiversity.
