BAE has submitted plans to build a two-storey high Portakabin that will be used as an office space with amenities for the on-site fire team.
The modular building will replace an old one that has become 'inefficient and dated,' according to the plans submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council.
"A Portakabin solution has been chosen due to the cost and speed of installation," the documents state.
"It can also be moved around the site as needed (after achieving the relevant planning permissions)."
The building has an overall floor space of 313sqm and will be two storeys high. It will be sited on existing hardstanding.
"The Portakabin building has been chosen as a result of the flexible solution it provides," the documents state.
The application, validated on May 24, is currently in the public consultation stage which will last until June 18.
