A POLICE bomb squad was called to a street after a householder found a suspected grenade.

Cumbria Police said an explosive ordnance team was called to Hartington Street in Barrow after the item was found during a clear out.

The bomb squad found the suspected grenade was not a viable explosive and did not require a controlled explosion.

It was taken away by the specialist team.

Police were called just after 10.30am on Saturday, with the incident resolved around 2.30pm.
