A HOTEL is donating money to charity as part of Dave Day.

The Holiday Inn Express in Barrow wanted to be able to contribute with donations for the day. The team put their heads together and decided to donate 10p from every pound made on beverage sales on the day.

The money will be given to the two chosen Dave Day charities - NSPCC Childline and The Institute of Cancer Research.

The hotel will be using recyclable plastic and a member of staff will be out the front of the hotel ensuring that they help keep the town clean.

The hotel will also use its meeting room for the St John Ambulance.

Jenna Strickland, sales manager at The Holiday Inn Express in Barrow, said: "As you know, The Holiday Inn Express cares about the community and we are always looking at new ways that we can give back, whether it is supporting the local radio station for summer school meals, doing local and beach litter picks, volunteering at the nature reserve and our many donations to charities such as St Mary's Hospice.

"We saw an opportunity with Dave Day. How can we ensure that the out-of-town riders feel the love and warmth that Barrow has to offer. We contacted Barrow BID and asked how we can help with this amazing event, this resulted in the use of our meeting room for the St John'S ambulance, this means the first aid team can be in the town centre and not have to worry about any cost that using a meeting room would usually incur.

"The Holiday Inn Express are really looking forward to welcoming everybody to our town centre. We will be open all day serving food and drinks."

The event on June 8 will see thousands of people travel from London to Barrow on their motorbikeS has been created in honour of Myers, who died earlier this year
