Bikers are being encouraged to honour the life of Dave Myers at an event on the Isle of Man.

Hundreds of motorcyclists and bike enthusiasts are expected to take part in the annual Legacy Lap of the Isle of Man TT course.

The tribute has become a staple of the TT Fortnight festival and is held to remember friends and riders who shared a passion for the races.

This year, many of those taking part will use it as an opportunity to remember Dave Myers, with the festival coming to an end at the same time as the Dave Day celebrations in Barrow on June 8.

Those doing so will be raising money for cancer charities after Myers lost his two-year battle with the illness in February.

The festival started on Monday, March 27 and will come to an end just as thousands of motorbike riders arrive in south Cumbria to remember the famous Barrovian.

Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson will set the lap off from the Grandstand at 9:30am on June 2 after a one-minute 'Sound of Thunder', where bikers rev their engines to make as much noise as possible.

It has grown to be one of the most hotly anticipated parts of the event, and will likely be a tribute to remember for participants' loved ones, as well as the popular Hairy Biker.

The convoy will leave the Grandstand for a lap of the 60km course under police supervision.

Riders who want to take part must sign up ahead of the lap, and each will receive a commemorative wrist band.

Signing-on will take place at the Hailwood Centre daily from May 28 to June 1 between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, and those taking part will assemble in the pit lane on Glencrutchery Road from 8:30am on the day.
