A Lake District charity is calling on individuals to participate in a walk across Morecambe Bay in a bid to conserve the area's landscapes.
Organised by Friends of the Lake District, the walk - which is starts Saturday, July 13 from 10.30am, beginning in Arnside - involves traversing the UK’s largest expanse of tidal mudflats and shifting sand, led by an official guide.
The seven mile long trek is suitable for anyone comfortable walking over uneven terrain for three to four hours.
In addition to walking over sand, participants will be required to wade through channels of water that can get knee or thigh-deep.
Any children below 18 should be accompanied by an adult and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
To join in the walk, it will cost £15 for adults, £10 for children, and £4 for dogs.
Participants are also encouraged to raise a minimum of £35 through sponsorship.
Tickets can be purchased via the charity’s website.
Proceeds from this popular event will support the Friends of the Lake District, a membership charity that focuses on protecting and enhancing the landscapes of the Lake District and Cumbria.
Celebrating its 90th birthday this year, the charity aims to promote healthy and diverse landscapes for everyone's enjoyment.
