A WOMAN with a 'suspected' ankle fracture was taken to hospital after slipping on a rock.
On Saturday (May 25) at 4pm Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called out by the North West Ambulance Service after a woman slipped while walking by Aira Force waterfall in Matterdale.
The woman had a suspected ankle injury and the first team members who arrived at the incident located the casualty at the cascades at the top of Aira Force.
The team explained that the woman was in a 'lot of pain' after slipping on some 'smooth' rock.
The injury was treated and stabilised with a lower leg splint.
She was then transferred by stretcher to a team Land Rover and she was transported to the road where she was handed over to a land ambulance for onward travel to the hospital.
The rescue lasted 2h30 and involved 10 team members.
