A COMMERCIAL Director has voiced plans to use his extensive industry knowledge to foster talent within the company's commercial team.
Brett Lilley of Genesis Homes addressed staff, relaying his excitement about his role and the ongoing success of the company.
Mr Lilley stated: "I’m very excited to be joining Genesis Homes, which is a homebuilder really going places and making its mark in construction across the North West."
Equipped with 20 years of experience in the field, he's confident in Genesis Homes and looking to establish further coaching and mentoring programmes to sharpen the skills of staff.
"There are certain geographical challenges that working in rural Cumbria brings but Genesis has already proved that there is a great amount of talent on the doorstep, which the company has developed through a programme of support and investment," he acknowledged.
Mr Lilley hails from Story Homes, where he held the associate director position for the North West.
Having had a career punctuated by senior roles in companies such as Countryside Properties, Chelford Homes, Fairclough Homes, and Rowland Homes, he fully understands the industry's inner workings.
Mr Lilley also held a position as the head of commercial at Russell Homes before transitioning to Story Homes.
His decision to join Genesis Homes was fueled by the company's ambitious initiatives.
Mr Lilley spoke highly of the firm's managing director, Nicky Gordon, saying his modern approach to housebuilding was inspiring.
"I had a few interviews with other developers but when I met with Genesis’ Managing Director Nicky Gordon I could immediately see his passion, and it struck me how modern his approach to housebuilding was.", he said.
He also noted his first task would be to review the commercial department thoroughly, identifying areas ripe for improvement.
Despite the role's challenges, Mr Lilley is positive about the team's collective efforts in propelling Genesis Homes to even greater heights.
Genesis Homes was established in 2017 in Penrith, Cumbria.
It was the brainchild of Nicky Gordon along with two other partners who identified potential construction sites in Wigton and Brigham.
Since its inception, the company has completed developments in several areas, including Wigton, Brigham, Burgh-by-Sands, Cumwhinton, Armathwaite, Hackthorpe, Calthwaite, and Rheda North Park.
In its quest for expansion, Genesis Homes acquired south Cumbrian house builder Russell Armer Homes in April 2021. This merger unified two of the North West's top housing development companies.
