THE fire brigade has explained what caused a blaze which was spotted by residents across Barrow in the early hours of this morning (May 22).
From the top of Holbeck to Rampside Road, residents captured photos of the fire and saw blue lights rushing to the scene.
One resident said that it 'lit up the night sky.'
At 3.36am, four Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service crews from Barrow, Walney and Ulverston attended a fire at four allotment outbuildings on Rampside Road.
The incident log states: "Fire fighters used two light portable pumps, two main jets, one ground monitor, a water media pump and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"Upon investigation, cylinders were found to be involved in the fire. Ground monitors were used to ensure the scene remained safe. The incident was closed at 8.55am."
There were no reported injuries.
