On Monday this week, The Mail launched its 'Best Chippy 2024' awards with nominations open until Sunday, May 26.

Here at the paper, we are looking to celebrate this most quintessential of British industries by finding the best chippy in the local area.
Once the nomination period is over, the 10 finalists will be revealed the week commencing May 27.
Readers will then be able to vote for their 'Best Chippy 2024' by picking up editions of The Mail between Monday, June 3 and Saturday, June 15, with the winner set to be announced on Monday, June 24.

The Mail will be running special articles with all of the top 10 as they vie to win your vote, promoting what they have to offer that truly sets them apart.
Will it come down to the crispiness of the batter, the frying of the chips, or how generous they are with the vinegar?
Joy Yates, regional editor for Newsquest Cumbria, said: "Who doesn’t love a chippy tea and Cumbria can boast having some of the very finest fish and chip shops.
"That’s why we want to highlight some of the best with your help so get voting for your favourite chippy.”
