A MAN has appeared in court after being charged with murder following an incident at a home in Barrow.
William Prince is alleged to have been involved in an incident with 90-year-old Geoffrey Kershaw on Abbey Road in Barrow on March 17. He died five days later in hospital.
The 64-year-old defendant, of Abbey Road, appeared at Preston Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday but did not enter any pleas to the alleged offence.
He will have the chance to enter his pleas at the next hearing on June 28, which is listed as a Further Case Management hearing.
A provisional trial date has been set for September 2.
An inquest into Mr Kershaw’s death was formally opened and then immediately suspended until further order by coroner Robert Cohen at Cockermouth Coroners’ Court on April 11.
