A firefighter in Ambleside has called it a day after serving the community for over four decades.
Watch Manager Stephen Barton said his farewells to the crew at Ambleside Fire Station earlier this week, bringing an end to 40 years of unwavering dedication to the area.
His current colleagues were joined by fellow firefighters who once worked alongside Stephen, as well as other first responders from across the county, to say goodbye on Thursday, May 16.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service commented: "Thank you for your service Stephen and we wish you a long and happy retirement."
Friends and family, as well as people living in the area, wanted to show their gratitude for the work Stephen has done over the years.
One person applauded his 'amazing service to Cumbria' and wished him good luck for the future, whilst another reassured him that he had served his community well.
